Ah, the sweet tranquility of the Sunday after a musicians' tireless weekend. The arousing aroma of a much needed cup of coffee once finally out of bed and joining the world of the living.
This was my story, at least, this weekend. Jesse didn't have the luxury of sleeping in on that beautiful, nearly-Spring Sunday. He had a bridal expo to be at early that morning, as a vendor (Yes! He's a photographer as well! Check out www.catalystrockford.com). However, before Sunday was upon us, we had Friday and Saturday -- and two great shows.
Friday night we had the honor of playing at the Grand Opening Celebration of the new downtown Rockford location of The Olive Oil Experience. Guests were able to sample their amazing oils, vinegars, sauces, and salsas. On top of that, Rockford Brewing Company was there serving up a couple of their amazing brews (including one of our favs, the West Coast IPA), and Melanie's Country Confections had their one-of-a-kind sweet treats (the cayenne pepper truffle is amazing!).
On Saturday, we made the hour-and-a-half trek to gorgeous Galena, IL. The venue: The Grape Escape. This was our second time playing there (our first time was in December). Last time we were there, it took a little while for the crowd to pick up... that was not the case this time! We actually started playing 15 minutes early due to how busy it was, and we wanted to make sure it stayed that way! We had some new experiences that night... ducking to miss the flying ping pong balls from across the room; having a man come up to sing "Don't Stop Believing" with us (he may or may not have had a few drinks); and then we got to experience driving back home at 2 a.m. after performing for almost 4 hours, setting up and tearing down, mingling and making new friends... we were pretty tired! I was driving us back, and Jesse did a great job keeping the energy up and me awake! We ate yummy snacks and listened to PHENOMINAL music from the '90's :) So after all the singing we had done already, we continued to rock out all the way home, which was a blast!
Whew! What a crazy couple of days! Check back next week to read about what this week holds for us. :)
