Last week we were able to play at two places that were new to us! Wednesday night (March 11th) we played over dinner at Ebenezer Brown's Eatery & Pub in Roscoe, IL. We had a nice crowd... very attentive. They have fantastic food and drink options (we enjoyed a tasty pub burger). If you haven't been there yet, you need to make the trip!
Friday and Saturday (March 14th/15th) were jam packed for us! Friday night we were in the studio (Underground Squirrel Studio) recording vocals until about 1:00a.m. Whew! Then I had to be up the next morning for my church's Women's Breakfast at 8:00 -- I know... I was exhausted, but it was worth it! From there, Jesse and I went back to the studio to finish up the vocal tracks. If that wasn't enough singing for us, from the studio we zipped over Rockford University, where we played an opening set at a fundraising concert for the group HEARTBEAT: Amplifying Youth Voices, which is a group of travelling musicians made up of Palastinian and Israili youth. Their goal is to use the power of music to transform conflict. Their music was great! It was eclectic, and clearly written from a deep desire for peace, not only in their homelands, but for the whole world. Other performers that night included 4th/5th grade students from Keith Country Day School, the student worship band from Rockford Lutheran Highschool, and Justin Saichek.
It was a fun, busy week... here are a few pics for you to enjoy!
