About Us
Folk/Americana
The Lone Canary is the Americana duo of Jesse Fox and Heather Camacho, whose harmony-rich songs balance intimacy and grit, hope and heartache. Based in Rockford, Illinois, Fox and Camacho have been making music together since their high school years, a long creative partnership that has shaped a sound built on trust, chemistry, and story-driven songwriting.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Jason Isbell, The Civil Wars, Watchhouse, Noah Gundersen, and Gregory Alan Isakov, The Lone Canary blends acoustic guitar, fiddle, foot percussion, and tightly woven vocals into a sound that feels both spare and expansive. Their music has earned praise for its “absorbing and beautiful songcraft” and has been described as “hypnotically suspenseful Americana folk.”
Over the years, they’ve shared stages with Three Dog Night, Over the Rhine, Cory Chisel, The Wildmans, Miles Nielsen, Pieta Brown, Lilly Hiatt, and Nathan Graham, and have performed at festivals and showcases including Mile of Music, Knoxville’s Blue Plate Special, and NPR Music. Their 2020 album, Leave the Gray, mastered by GRAMMY-winner David Donnelly, marked a creative milestone and helped introduce a wider audience to their haunting, harmony-driven style.
Their 2025 album, Dime Store Horses, finds The Lone Canary leaning deeper into raw honesty, layered arrangements, and expansive storytelling. Across songs shaped by love, loss, faith, memory, and resilience, Fox and Camacho continue to create music that feels lived-in, human, and quietly unafraid of the dark.
